Casino is our major fund-raising event
|
|
Casinos in Alberta are provincially regulated.
Casino dates are allocated to non-profit organizations as fund-raising
opportunities and the non-profit, of which we are one, supplies
volunteers as chip runners on the floor and as the staff in the
cash cage for a 2 day period. Casino opportunities are much sought
after in Alberta because they are so lucrative for the amount
of time the volunteers contribute. Each qualified and approved
non-profit has an opportunity once every 18 months or so.
The paper work you will be asked to complete is required by the
gambling commission. You will receive training at the site at
the beginning of your shift. If you have not done this before,
these events can be eye openers as well as relaxing fun.
Each 2-day Casino has been delivering $60,000 or more to the ABBA
for its 2-day event. Casinos are one of the most lucrative forms
of fund raising for athletic non-profit organizations.
The money raised by these events is pooled and then allocated
to all the organizations participating. Contact your executive
if you want to check out how all this works.
