Dear ABBA Members & Athletes Past and Present

It has been a great 2009 for the ABBA and its athletes. With 3 of our 4 shows successfully completed and the 3 National completions, not only has it been a busy year, but also a very prosperous year! It is because of the volunteers and your dedication to this sport that our association continues to be the leader in bodybuilding, figure and fitness in Alberta.

Starting with the CBBF Natural Show in March, the ABBA was well represented in Body Fitness. Following that, our 3 ABBA-sanctioned shows took place in June. Large audience attendance viewed spectacular physiques and witnessed some really great routines! Congratulations to all our athletes who competed at these shows and in particular our Overall Bodybuilders Jordan Janvier and Cat Lopez, our Overall Figure athlete Amber Forrest (tier 2), Fitness competitor Cindy Jones, and Bikini Model Carrie Hensman!

I would like to thank our Promoters Cabel, John and Ty for their continual support and the holding of first class competitions.

Two months later both the CBBF National Bodybuilding and Fitness/Figure/Bikini Model competitions took place August 15th and 22nd respectively in Vancouver; 44 bodybuilders and 17 Fitness/Figure/Bikini Model athletes took part in these events. Again congratulations to these athletes and in particular our newest IFBB Pro from Alberta, Rob Belisle!

Also don't forget our ABBA Awards Banquet will be held on October 4th at the Westin Hotel at 11 am. This spectacular brunch is subsidized by the ABBA and costs $25. This full brunch buffet includes roast beef carving and omelet stations. Please purchase your tickets by October 1st as we have to give the Westin confirmed numbers the following day. I would be remiss if I did not thank Debbie Leung, ABBA Vice President, for her incomparable expertise and assistance with the Executive. In particular she has been instrumental in the formation of the Bikini Model division and the design and distribution of the National Athlete track suits. Furthermore she has enabled the strategic vision and mission of the ABBA to remain on course and be properly executed.

I would also like to thank and welcome our newest addition to the ABBA Executive, Asha Belisle, whom was already performing many duties as Secretary before being voted into this position at our June 2009 ABBA AGM.

It is with great honor that I serve as your President: It is extremely rewarding for me to be around a group of such highly motivated and dedicated athletes and volunteers, and I look forward to leading the ABBA to an even greater future.
